SUSE 10 Linux on Laptop Review
…Continuing on in my quest to get Linux installed on my newly acquired laptop with wireless networking. My first attempt, using Sabayon Linux, was unsuccessful. My next attempt is to use an old Suse 10 disk I’ve had laying around from a previous desktop install.

I drank a Redline and set off on the task of installing SUSE 10. I’ll make this quick:
(1) installed fine accepting all defaults, but the Wireless card was recognized as an Ethernet card - I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt - I probably wasn’t paying attention during install.
(2) installed again this time choosing to manually configure the Wireless card. Again, it recognized it as an Ethernet card. I manually changed it to WiFi and configured the network access. Success…………at least momentarily. Unfortunately, even though it successfully tested out on the network, the card must’ve been defaulted back to an Ethernet card once the machine actually booted.
Professionals are switching from desktop to laptop, that’s why demand for variety of cheap laptop is high. In this competitive market acer laptop is available in all price ranges while on the other prices of sony laptop is high because of latest technology and functions.
No time for this. Amped up like crazy on caffeine. Original goal was a completely hands free install that recognized wireless. Looks like this doesn’t pass muster either, but it is infinitely better than Sabayon. Such a shame too as I really like that Lizard.
